From Carbon Source to Carbon Sink: Using Regenerative Agriculture to Mitigate Climate Change
Agriculture and forestry play a key role in the economic and social fabric of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). However, through deforestation and land degradation from overuse, pressure on land in LAC is growing, and a significant portion of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the region are generated from the agriculture, forestry, and other land use (AFOLU) sector. How can we reconcile two seemingly opposing trends? Can we transform agriculture from a carbon source to a carbon sink?

Join us as we explore how regenerative agricultural practices can play a significant role in the achievement of climate goals, particularly in LAC, without causing further degradation or deforestation in nearby areas.

Featured Speakers:
Thomas Casten, Climate Institute
Marie Ange Ngo Bieng, CIRAD-CATIE
Ruben Echeverría, International Food Policy Research Institute
Marcela Quintero (The Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT) will moderate the Q&A session.
