As the availability of near-real-time data on Global Forest Watch (GFW) expands, there exists a growing number of opportunities for journalists to leverage this data in their reporting on forest issues.
To help realize this opportunity, Mongabay is organizing an online training, in collaboration with Global Forest Watch staff, demonstrating how journalists can use GFW to add evidence to news articles and explain how the Places to Watch methodology is being utilized to identify concerning areas of deforestation for on-the-ground investigation and reporting.
While many of the tools that journalists use to tell stories already have how-to information, most of these materials are general and don’t provide the context relevant to how journalists use these tools for their articles.
This webinar will provide practical information about how to use GFW, tailored specifically for journalists. Participants in this webinar will gain a better understanding for how to access and interpret the information in GFW as well as how to appropriately use this information in their reporting.
